History of the Filipino Canadian Chamber of Commerce – Greater Vancouver (FCCC-GV)
The Filipino Canadian Chamber of Commerce – Greater Vancouver (FCCC-GV) was founded to empower Filipino-Canadian entrepreneurs, professionals, and businesses in Greater Vancouver. The idea began during the FPACC and PCCI Bi-National Conference in Seattle in August 2022, where Founding President Carlo Mendoza saw the need for a dedicated chamber to support the growing community.
Despite early challenges, Carlo remained determined. The first two meetings had very few attendees, but he persisted, believing the right time would come.
On October 6, 2024, the third meeting in Surrey became the turning point. With five participants, including Rhona Doria and Joel Castro, this became the official Kickoff Meeting of FCCC-GV.
Momentum grew at the First Roadshow Meeting on November 30, 2024, where over twenty attendees joined, including a representative from Omni Television. The Vision, Mission, and Values were presented, highlighting FCCC-GV’s role in fostering growth and collaboration.
Questions arose about the difference between a chamber and a trade council, which Carlo clarified: the chamber focuses on local business support, networking, and community development.
An attendee proposed electing officers, and the motion was unanimously approved. Four members from the Kickoff Meeting formed the first Executive Leadership Team, officially founding FCCC-GV on November 30, 2024.
Since then, FCCC-GV has remained committed to empowering members, driving economic growth, and connecting the Filipino-Canadian community with the wider business landscape.
Today, FCCC-GV stands as a thriving hub for Filipino-Canadian entrepreneurs, built on perseverance, collaboration, and community.
“From a spark of inspiration to a thriving community—FCCC-GV is where dreams take flight and business flourish.”
